Today is Sarah’s birthday! I love that we turn the same age, only she’s exactly five months before me. It’s like she gets to test the waters before I throw myself in. Ha! She seems fine with being 35 today, but I’m terrified of that number for some reason. Oh well. Good news is that I have until November to wrap my brain around it.
This has been such a crazy year, just 2017 alone, but definitely since her last birthday. I came out (I’ll post on the anniversary about it- it’s coming), she came out, my brother got engaged, we gained a niece and a nephew, my grandmother (the woman who made me the person I am today) had multiple small strokes and eventually passed away, my mom stopped her cancer treatment and will be passing in the near future, Toby had some mystery illness that he recovered from… and she’s never wavered. She’s always been there. Always been my rock.
We’ve had some dark times- fewer than the past now that everything is pretty much out on the table at this point but no matter what, we’ve been together through it all. We always (jokingly) give each other an out, whenever something tough arises, but we’re both in this for the long haul and for that I couldn’t be more grateful. We’re strong and our family is stronger. Every day we’re stronger.
This is short and sweet but don’t worry- we have some more posts coming up this week, there are some big “anniversaries” , good and bad, that shaped who we are today and how we came to be. But in the mean time, we’re going to enjoy our kid-free few days (thanks, grandma and grandpa!) and go celebrate Sarah’s birthday, tonight at Melting Pot (a real, adult, late dinner and not at 4 pm with the old folk- ha!) and then wherever the next couple days lead us (probably to the mall- it always does).
We love you all and so appreciate your support! It’s crazy when I look at our blog stats, how far all over the world our blog has gone- some of the visits in other countries have been from friends on vacation, but others are actual readers in other countries which is so cool! Remember, feel free to share our story and follow us on Instagram!
